The pandemic allowed a number of employees working remotely to bid goodbye to the rigorous dress codes that corporates enforce on their employees. However, there were incidents where footage of employees or employers attending video conferences in attires deemed inappropriate circulated on the internet.
But if I tell you that a CEO of a prominent company himself shared his shirtless photo from work, would you believe it? This is exactly what Tony Fernandes, the CEO of AirAsia did when he posted his shirtless photo on his LinkedIn profile.
Tony wanted to highlight the flexible work culture in AirAsia and its commitment to maintain a balance between work and leisure. Tony said that he could get a massage and attend a management meeting simultaneously. This highlighted a stark difference between the traditional corporate culture and the one being promoted by the AirAsia CEO.
There has also been a lot of controversy over this post. Some found it very unprofessional and also inappropriate for a workplace.
It has also sparked a debate on what’s acceptable and what’s not in a professional space. On the other hand, some have praised his unconventional leadership.
