A disturbing incident at Poornima School in Hyderabad has raised serious concerns about child safety in educational spaces. Parents trust caretakers to provide a safe and nurturing environment. But this case shows how that trust can be broken.
A four-year-old nursery student from the school’s Jeedimetla branch was hospitalized after being assaulted by a female caretaker. The act was caught on video by a boy from a nearby building. The footage shows the caretaker, Lakshmi, hitting and pushing the child.
After the video began circulating online, the child’s mother, who also works as a caretaker, filed a complaint. Lakshmi has been taken into custody, and police have started an investigation into the incident.
The case highlights the lack of supervision and accountability in some educational institutions. Parents depend on schools for both learning and safety, making such violations deeply worrying. The child is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital.
Going forward, schools and authorities must enforce stronger checks and preventive measures. Ensuring proper monitoring and strict guidelines is essential to protect children and avoid such breaches of trust.
