Women’s Day Dance at Hospital Leads to Suspension

Rajahmundry hospital nurses dance video

A video from a government hospital in Rajahmundry recently went viral across social media platforms. The clip showed a few nurses dancing to popular film songs inside the hospital seminar hall. The event was reportedly organised a day before International Women’s Day.

As the video circulated online, several people raised questions about discipline inside the hospital premises. Soon after the controversy, the hospital administration conducted an inquiry into the matter. Two head nurses, Mercy and Eshwari, were suspended while notices were issued to some other staff members.

Celebrating Women’s Day is not wrong and the occasion is meant to recognise the contribution of women in society. However, such events require proper planning and sensitivity. A private celebration at another venue or on a holiday could have avoided disruption to regular hospital duties.

Holding a party inside hospital premises and involving staff during working hours is not considered appropriate. Hospitals handle patients, emergencies, and critical care at all times. Doctors, nurses, helpers, and ward attendants are expected to maintain responsibility and uphold the dignity of their profession.
