Theatres have been trying to make the big-screen experience better for the audience. Swiggy has now joined the initiative with the launch of ‘Order-in-Cinemas’ on the app’s dineout segment.
The order experience is going to be different with the arrival of this new feature. It marks the collaboration of the top multiplex companies with Swiggy, including Cinepolis and Asian Cinemas. Swiggy Dineout has also joined the PoS aggregator Impact and the popular Cinema Software Solutions provider for PoS aggregation, Showbizz.
The new feature will include four steps, where people need to scan, browse, order, and pay, following which the item will be delivered at their seat. People have to scan the QR code in the cinema hall, following which the cinema menu will appear on the Swiggy Dineout app.
The feature will also bring discounts for people on certain occasions. Apart from this, there will be an option to check the upcoming movie releases, trailers, posters, screenings, and more. Theatres will also get the opportunity to recommend personalized combos, followed by upsell and cross-sell of food and beverages.
Netizens reacted to the launch of the new feature on social media, saying that it is a good initiative to attract more people to the cinema. Some even stated that this will make accessibility of food for moviegoers a little easier.
On the other hand, a few pointed out that the discounts should be made available for solo orders instead of being restricted to orders made for two people or more. Apart from that, some others asked the companies to reduce the rate of the food items so that everyone can purchase and enjoy them inside the theatre while watching a movie.
Although the new feature is expected to pull audiences to the theatres, let’s wait and see how many people are going to genuinely use it instead of waiting at the counters to order their food.
