A chilling case from Vadodara district, Gujarat, has shocked the state. A 17-year-old girl has been accused of conspiring with her lover to kill her father after he opposed their relationship.
The victim, identified as Shana Chavda, reportedly disapproved of her daughter’s relationship with Ranjeet Gajendrabhai Vaghela (24). The two had previously eloped in July, after which Shana filed a POCSO case against Ranjeet. He was arrested and later released on bail in August.
According to police investigations, planning allegedly began soon after Ranjeet’s release. On 16 December, the girl allegedly attempted to drug her parents, but the plan failed. Two days later, she reportedly mixed sleeping pills into their food.
Once Shana became unconscious, Ranjeet and his associate Bhavya Maheshbhai Vasava (23) allegedly entered the home and stabbed him. Police say the girl watched through a window to confirm he was dead, referring to him as an obstacle in her life.
Vadodara district police chief Sushil Agarwal stated that the conspiracy was active for nearly three months. Ranjeet, who worked at a papad factory, and Bhavya have been arrested. The girl, being a minor, has been sent to a child protection home as legal procedures continue.
The case has sparked debate on family disputes, emotional vulnerability among youth and the impact of unresolved conflict within relationships.
