What some people call harmless humour is being seen by many as body shaming. Critics say it is another example of women being reduced to body parts for public entertainment.
The reaction in comment sections has made the issue worse. Instead of reflection, many users defended the trend and claimed women deserve it because of jokes made about male body parts online.
This argument misses the real issue completely. Body shaming against women or men is harmful, outdated, and often driven by insecurity.
Answering one form of mockery with another only increases the problem. It creates a cycle where disrespect becomes normal and cruelty is treated as humour.
Social media runs on trends, but not every trend deserves support. Popularity should not be the only reason people join harmful online behaviour.
When humour depends on humiliating someone, it reflects more on those creating it than those being targeted. Respect should not be selective or based on gender.
If people truly want a healthier online culture, these cycles of ridicule need to end. Choosing empathy over cheap attention is the better path forward.
