Police said Kundella Nagesh of Ketepally village was having an extramarital affair with Sujata. Enraged over the relationship, Sujata reportedly attacked Nagesh’s wife in a brutal manner.

Sujata poured petrol on Mamata and set her ablaze. In pain, Mamata ran onto the street but later succumbed to her injuries. Her infant son was shifted to the Nalgonda government hospital for treatment.

After receiving complaints from locals, police rushed to the spot and registered a case. Mamata’s body was sent for post-mortem, and an investigation is underway.

The mood in the village remains tense and gloomy. Social observers say murders linked to extramarital affairs are rising, and growing anger issues along with violent media content are contributing to such crimes.
