Women Caught Smuggling Crores In Undergarments!Smuggling valuables is one of the most sought out mediums to launder money by the criminals. Whether it’s locally or internationally.

One such incident took place at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai. A UK national was detained by the customs officers and upon examination, they found 17 melted 22-karat gold bars in her bra and 21 karat gold assorted jewelleries.

The total weight of the gold found from her was 3.4 kg which costs ₹1.63 crore approximately.

India is at the second position in terms of gold consumption and the biggest importer of the yellow metal. But, India has a high cumulative tax of 18% on import of gold which led to the rise in illegal ways to make it available in the country.

Sahra Mohammed Omar boarded the flight from Kenya for India but was caught during the security checking. Upon investigation, she accepted the charges of smuggling gold.

She was produced before a Holiday court on Sunday after the police recorded her arrest and booked her under the relevant charges.

After the hearing, she was remanded in Judicial custody.
