The ongoing test series between India and England has already had its fair share of controversies, be it regarding players or the umpires.
The latest one seems to be regarding ICC umpire Paul Reiffel. His recent decisions in the ongoing series point heavily towards a potential bias towards England, and the same has been picked up by the public.
Team India have had to fight for every decision in the last 3 days of the game at Lord’s. The Men in Blue had to overturn 5 key umpiring decisions that were clearly biased for the English side.
Not only that, our team has been denied two very important wickets in the form of Ben Stokes and Joe Root.
And all the blame is falling on Paul Reiffel. The so-called veteran umpire made an out decision for Shubman Gill even though the ball clearly missed his bat.
Four of his calls in favour of English batsmen have also been overturned, raising serious questions about his integrity.
Many Indians have strongly objected to this, going as far as to accuse Paul of racism.
It will be interesting to see if the ICC takes note of this and initiates a long-overdue independent assessment of the same.
