Champions League T20 To Return As World Club Championship 2026

The Cricket World Club Championship is set to return with a new flair, bringing in new competition for all the top franchises to compete.

The Championship will include the top teams of IPL, PSL, BBL and many more, setting the stage for what can only be called a fierce display of cricketing endurance.

However, this does not mean that this new project doesn’t come with limitations and unanswered questions.

The heightened tensions between India and Pakistan mean that franchises from both countries playing against each other would massively undermine India’s national stance on sports with Pakistan.

Even if we ignore this, IPL and PSL teams facing together will bring an element of nationalism to it, which would ruin the franchise aspect of the game. This would mean that the World Club Championship will fail to separate business from national sentiment.

On top of that, there are many players who play for different franchises throughout the year. It will be a massive challenge to make rules regarding which team such players would play with in the Championship.

While the idea is definitely intriguing, one is forced to ask if it is too tedious to implement at the current point in time.
