
Cheteshwar Pujara has been an irreplaceable player when it comes to saving India numerous times by just stubbornly standing there at the crease, making bowlers frustrated.
But we all know how that ended for him. He was let go from the team despite being its wall just for a few bad performances.

Pujara was recently seen giving the debut cap to Sai Sudharsan for his test debut in the team. One couldn’t help but notice the spark Pujara still had in his eyes for getting just one more chance to prove himself once again in his team.
This was the time when Team India needed him more than ever. With Gill leading an inexperienced side, a Pujara, who would have stood his ground in front of Stokes and Co. would have been invaluable for the team.

But Gautam Gambhir probably doesn’t think so. Even though Pujara has not announced his retirement, he has not been called to play for his nation ever since he was dropped in 2023.
It will be interesting to see if Sai can do justice to the Number 3 position that Pujara once held so close to him.
