Shikhar Dhawan Double Jackpot: Big Court Relief

Shikhar Dhawan court verdict

Former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has received major relief from a Delhi family court. The court directed his ex-wife Aesha Mukerji to return Rs 5.7 crore.

The court ruled that the earlier property settlement was not valid. It stated that the agreement was executed through threat and fraud, making it legally unenforceable.

The Patiala House Court observed that Dhawan is not bound by the Australian court settlement. The judge noted that the documents were signed under pressure and fear.

The court also ordered Mukerji to pay 9 percent yearly interest on the amount. This added to the relief granted to Dhawan in the long-running dispute.

Dhawan told the court that he was forced to transfer money and property. He stated that properties bought with his own funds were registered in Mukerji’s name due to sustained pressure.

After examining the records, the court accepted Dhawan’s claims. It found sufficient evidence to support his argument regarding coercion.

The court further noted that Mukerji failed to appear despite repeated summons. It added that since the marriage was registered in India, Indian law would apply instead of Australian law.

Dhawan and Mukerji married in 2012 and divorced in 2023. The court earlier observed that Dhawan suffered mental stress after being separated from his son.

Dhawan married again in February 2025. The latest ruling brings significant relief after years of legal proceedings.

With this order, the court made it clear that the earlier settlement has no legal standing. The amount must now be returned, marking a decisive win for Dhawan.
