Virat Kohli continued his outstanding form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Representing Delhi, he scored another 50 plus innings and maintained his strong run in one day cricket. His consistent performances are raising hopes among fans.
Kohli anchors Delhi’s innings with 77
Against Gujarat, Kohli made 77 runs off 61 balls. He struck 13 fours and a six, marking his sixth consecutive score of 50 or more in one day cricket. His innings kept Delhi in the contest after an early setback.
Early wickets put pressure on Delhi
Priyansh Arya was dismissed for one run in the second over. Kohli then added 72 runs with Arpit Rana and steadied the innings. Arpit fell for 10 and Nitish Rana could only manage 12, leaving Delhi under pressure at 108 for 4.
Gujarat’s Vishal Jayswal turns the game
Left arm spinner Vishal Jayswal dismissed Kohli before he could convert his start into a century. Jayswal also removed Arpit and Nitish to shift momentum. At this stage, Rishabh Pant and Ayush Badoni were at the crease, looking to rebuild.
Delhi hopes for a competitive total
Even though Kohli missed out on a hundred, his knock gave Delhi a foundation. The middle order will need to increase the scoring rate. A competitive total will depend on Pant and Badoni’s partnership.
Kohli’s recent run boosts confidence
Earlier in the tournament, Kohli scored 131 in Delhi’s win over Andhra Pradesh. Nitish Rana and Priyansh Arya also contributed as Delhi chased 299 with overs to spare. His current form suggests he is peaking at the right time.
