India defeated Sri Lanka by 15 runs in the fifth T20I on Tuesday to complete a 5-0 whitewash and finish the year on a high. Sri Lanka performed better than before, but India proved why they were the stronger team.

India chose to bat first and made changes in the playing XI. Smriti Mandhana and Renuka Singh Thakur were rested. G Kamalini made her debut. Shafali Verma got out early, and Kamalini could not convert her start.

Harmanpreet and Amanjot Stabilise the Innings

India struggled at 77 for five in the middle overs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur took control. She focused on building the innings with careful shot selection and smart rotation of strike.

Once Amanjot Kaur settled, Harmanpreet began scoring more freely. She scored 68 off 43 balls which became the turning point. Arundhati Reddy scored an unbeaten 27 at the end to take India to a strong total of 175.

Sri Lanka Fight Hard in the Chase

Sri Lanka lost Chamari Athapaththu early. Hasini Perera and Imesha Dulani kept the chase alive with steady scoring. They stayed in contention for most of the innings and rotated strike well.

Sri Lanka failed to find big shots during crucial moments. Amanjot Kaur broke the stand, and Deepti Sharma picked up key wickets. Perera’s wicket in the 17th over ended their hopes.

India Finish With a Perfect 5-0

Sri Lanka finished at 160 for 7, falling short by 15 runs. India stayed calm in the final overs to complete a 5-0 whitewash. It was not their easiest win, but it showed India’s depth and control.
