India were already in deep trouble at Lord’s, but once the cameras showed Akshay Kumar in the stands, social media found its scapegoat.
Sitting next to Twinkle Khanna and Ravi Shastri, Akshay was seen smiling while India was collapsing on the field. At the time, the score was 100/7—and fans online lost it. Within minutes, “panauti” (bad luck charm) began trending again.
The situation only got worse from there. India were eventually bowled out for 170, falling short in a chase of 193. A bitter loss at Lord’s and once again, the internet turned to Akshay Kumar to vent their frustration.
This isn’t the first time fingers have been pointed at the actor. In the 2021 T20 World Cup, Akshay was present in the Dubai stadium when India lost to Pakistan by 10 wickets.
He was also at Leeds when the Indian women’s team lost the World Cup final. Now, with another defeat at Lord’s, fans are beginning to see a pattern.
One fan tweeted:
“He was there in Dubai, Leeds and now Lord’s. Why is he always at the wrong place at the wrong time?”
Another user shared a meme from Phir Hera Pheri with Babu Rao yelling:
“Sala tu hi sabse bada panauti hai.”
The reactions ranged from hilarious to outright furious. While some joked that India lost because “Akshay was in the script,” others genuinely asked him to stay away from cricket grounds during crucial matches.
Jadeja and Nitish Kumar Reddy tried to steady the chase, but it wasn’t enough. India’s lower order folded quickly, and the collapse was complete at 170 all out.
In the end, the loss stings but the spotlight, oddly enough, is on a Bollywood actor in the crowd rather than the men on the field. For fans on the internet, when Akshay Kumar shows up, so does disaster.
Cannada kumar was also present at India's loss against pakistan in 2021 T20 wc
