India defeated England by seven runs in the Semi final of the T20 World Cup 2026. With this win, India reached the final and will face New Zealand on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Batting first, India scored 253 runs. Sanju Samson played an important innings and made 89 runs from 42 balls. He hit several boundaries and sixes and kept the run rate high.
Ishan Kishan also scored quickly. He made 39 runs from 18 balls. Samson and Kishan added 97 runs for the second wicket and gave India a strong position.
Abhishek Sharma could not stay long and scored only 9 runs. Later, Shivam Dube was sent to bat before Suryakumar Yadav to attack the spin bowling. Dube scored quick runs and helped India push the total higher.
Chasing 254, England stayed in the match because of Jacob Bethell. He scored 105 runs from 48 balls. His innings included 7 sixes and 8 fours.
But other England batters could not support him. No other batter scored a half century.
Jasprit Bumrah bowled an important spell for India. He gave away only 33 runs in four overs and slowed England during the chase.
In the final over, England needed 30 runs. Shivam Dube bowled the over and kept control. He gave only three runs in the first three balls, which ended England’s chances. India will now play New Zealand in the final of the T20 World Cup 2026.
