KKR are chasing Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson and are ready to make a bold move. Reports suggest they may trade Angkrish Raghuvanshi or Ramandeep Singh or even push for an all-cash deal to sign the star wicketkeeper-batter.
Samson’s high valuation problem
While the move excites fans, it brings financial concerns. Samson is valued at ₹18 crore, whereas Raghuvanshi and Ramandeep together are worth just ₹7 crore. If one of them is included in the deal, KKR will need to pay a huge cash difference, raising doubts about whether they even have the purse for it.
Fans divided over the move
Reactions have been mixed among supporters. Many feel Samson is the ideal fit, a proven Indian wicketkeeper-batter who can strengthen KKR’s top order. Others see it as another poor decision by the management, arguing that trades should bring equal value, and this deal looks unbalanced.
Why KKR want Samson
From KKR’s perspective, the interest is clear. Last season, they relied on overseas wicketkeepers like Quinton de Kock and Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Signing Samson would not only provide a dependable Indian option but also free up an overseas slot, giving the team more flexibility.
CSK’s tough trade dilemma
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are also interested, but their chances appear slim. Rajasthan Royals are asking for Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube or Ravindra Jadeja in return. With Gaikwad as captain and Jadeja as a cornerstone of the team, CSK are unwilling to go ahead with such a swap, making KKR the stronger contender if finances align.
Samson’s future in IPL 2026
Whether Samson moves through a trade or enters the auction, his future remains one of the biggest storylines of IPL 2026. For KKR, this could either turn into the masterstroke they have long been waiting for or another move that adds to their list of management blunders.
