IND Squad Suffer Major Blow Ahead of Ireland T20Is

Nitish Kumar Reddy ruled out of Ireland series

India all rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is set to miss the upcoming T20I series against Ireland after suffering a quadriceps injury during the ODI series against Afghanistan.

The injury is also expected to rule him out of India’s white ball tour of England next month. This comes as a setback for the team, which was considering him an important option for the Ireland series.

Nitish was in India’s plans, especially with Hardik Pandya currently unavailable due to a quadriceps niggle. Hardik missed the ODI series against Afghanistan and is still recovering from the injury.

According to reports, medical scans confirmed an injury to Nitish’s left quadriceps. He has now been asked to report to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence for further assessment and rehabilitation.

The 23 year old featured in two matches during the ODI series against Afghanistan. He picked up two wickets in the second match but remained wicketless in his third appearance.

Despite the setback, Nitish continues to be a valuable player for India because of his all round skills. The selectors are yet to announce a replacement for the Ireland series.

If a replacement is named, India A all rounder Suryansh Shedge is among the players who are likely to be considered for the squad.
