The Indian cricket team has been going through a transition, with the last semblance of the old guard now remaining in the ODI squad in the form of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Many fans have already started fantasising about the 2027 ODI World Cup being held under Gill’s captaincy, India winning it, and Gill lifting Virat on his shoulders to celebrate the victory.
However, others were quick to point out the lack of such grace in the juniors of today. Some pointed out at Ashish Nehra’s farewell match, pointing out how the only ones to lift him up and truly celebrate with him were Virat and Shikhar Dhawan, the seniors in the team.
Claiming that nowadays no players possess such qualities, fans fear that Virat and Rohit may never get such a kind of farewell even if India wins the 2027 ODI World Cup.
