Virat Kohli is arguably one of the greatest ever Indian cricketers, but of late, his commitment towards the Indian cricket team has come under question. Earlier, he skipped the England series before the IPL, only to play the full-fledged IPL season later.

After the completion of the IPL, Kohli arrived for the T20 WC preparations in a belated manner and skipped the only practice India had against Bangladesh. He directly joined the side in the opening game of the tournament against Ireland.

In the Ireland game, Kohli simply couldn’t adjust to the pace of the wicket and the tacky bounce. He got out scoring 1 run from 5 balls. It was fine as India was chasing a small target of 97 against Ireland. But had it been a high-stakes game against a top team, then Kohli’s ugly dismissal could have had grave consequences.

A part of this failure is being attributed to Kohli’s absence in India’s preparation for the World Cup. As a result, he would take more time to acclimatize to he conditions there. It really was a blunder to skip Indian side’s preparation run for the WC, opine Indian cricket fans.
