Dhanush’s fourth directorial film Idli Kadai is gearing up for a worldwide release tomorrow, October 1. With just hours left, pre-bookings are picking up pace across theatres.
Reports say Idli Kadai will also screen in North Indian multiplexes. With this pan-India push, the film is expected to follow an eight-week theatrical window before arriving on OTT.
Netflix has reportedly bagged the digital rights, which means streaming could begin towards the end of November. However, no official confirmation on the exact OTT date has been given so far.
Some viewers on social media questioned the film’s pan-India release strategy. They feel a rooted village-based story may not connect with audiences outside Tamil Nadu. Despite heavy promotions, pre-bookings in several centres remain average, making word-of-mouth crucial for its success.
All eyes are now on Idli Kadai as it hits theatres on October 1. The coming weeks will decide whether Dhanush’s latest venture turns into a blockbuster and how it performs before its expected OTT debut.
