Kuberaa, starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles and directed by Sekhar Kammula, was released in theaters on June 20th and has received positive responses from audiences and critics.
Even though Kuberaa is a bilingual movie, Telugu audiences are sharing unanimously positive responses for the movie, whereas Tamil audiences are sharing mixed responses.

According to reports, Kuberaa is nearing the ₹100 crore mark in box office collections. Of this, overall box office collection, the Telugu states have contributed around 70%, whereas Tamil Nadu collections are only around 30%.
Recently, the Kuberaa’s success meet was held in Hyderabad, where actor Chiranjeevi participated and appreciated the cast and crew.

Also, Chiranjeevi greatly appreciated Dhanush for his acting performance at the event and mentioned that Dhanush is the one and only actor in Indian cinema who can play the character of Deva in Kuberaa, and showered him with praise. This has since gone viral.
Following this, many Dhanush fans on social media responded that Dhanush should consider moving to the Telugu Industry, as no big stars in Kollywood have so far appreciated Dhanush’s masterclass performance in Kuberaa, pointing out Chiranjeevi’s appreciation for Dhanush in the Kuberaa success meet.

Also, even some Dhanush fans have disappointed him despite his great acting performance in the movie by sharing mixed reviews for Kuberaa, and regular audiences are not showing interest in watching it in theaters, feeling that Kuberaa is a Telugu movie.
According to trade experts, as of now, Dhanush’s Kuberaa has collected only around ₹14 crores in Tamil Nadu, which is very poor and If this trend continues, Kuberaa will end similarly to Dhanush’s Naane Varuven, which ended its theatrical run as a disaster.
In contrast, Telugu audiences are showering Dhanush with appreciation, and Kuberaa is having a dream theatrical run in the Telugu states.
Netizens on social media have started to criticize Tamil audiences for the poor collections of Kuberaa in Tamil Nadu, commenting that Tamil fans are slowly becoming worse and are even causing good movies like Kuberaa to fail at the box office.
Additionally, the last time when Dhanush collaborated with a Telugu director Venky Atluri for Vaathi/Sir, it also ended up as a failure in Tamil but became a blockbuster success in the Telugu states, opening a new market in Telugu. Therefore, some Dhanush fans feel that he should quit acting in Kollywood and move to Tollywood.
However, it remains to be seen how Kuberaa is going to perform in the box office collections in the following days and whether it emerges as the highest-grossing movie in Dhanush’s career surpassing Raayan.
