Ever since the 72nd National Film Awards for the films released in 2024 were announced and Dhanush‘s Raayan won in the Best Tamil Film category, social media has been flooded with lots of criticisms against the jury members.
When the National Awards for 2024 were announced, every Kollywood audience expected that most probably Sivakarthikeyan’s Amaran or Meiyazhagan would win in the Best Tamil Film category, but surprisingly, the jurors selected Raayan.
Following this, many people started claiming that Raayan is just a mediocre commercial film and that it didn’t deserve to be the Best Tamil Film of the year 2024. Furthermore, they started claiming that the selections seem to be biased.
Meanwhile, although some people are happy that Mammootty won in the Best Actor category for Bramayugam, others feel that Vikram’s acting performance in Thangalaan deserved the Best Actor award.
This is because they suggest that even though Thangalaan was not a great film and had some flaws in it, Vikram’s acting performance in the film was truly remarkable and they feel that he put his heart and soul into the role.
Hence, they feel that the jurors should have at least awarded Vikram the Best Actor award in the Special Mention category, but surprisingly, the Special Mention category was also presented to Dhanush for Captain Miller. Therefore, they feel that the jurors are in favor of Dhanush, which is why he got two undeserving awards.
Consequently, Dhanush’s two National Award wins at the 72nd National Film Awards are now sparking heated discussions and criticisms against the juries and many people are sharing their reactions to them.
