Ever since Kamal Haasan‘s RKFI announced that the official update on Rajinikanth’s 173rd film will be released today at 11 am, social media has been buzzing with discussions. Fans are actively debating which director will replace Sundar C for the project.
Over the past few weeks, there was strong speculation that Parking director Ramkumar Balakrishnan would helm this much awaited film. However, fresh buzz now suggests that Rajinikanth has locked a script by Don director Cibi Chakaravarthi, who is expected to direct his 173rd film. Reports claim the RKFI announcement will confirm this.
It is also being said that Cibi Chakaravarthi was earlier supposed to direct a film with Sivakarthikeyan. Due to call sheet issues with the actor, he reportedly decided to take up the Rajinikanth project first. After completing it, he is expected to resume work with Sivakarthikeyan.
This development has triggered mixed reactions among fans. Some are excited about the collaboration and believe Cibi Chakaravarthi can present Rajinikanth in a fresh avatar while also tapping into his humour, as seen in Don.
On the other hand, a section of fans feels that Don worked by chance and describe it as outdated and cringeworthy. They believe Rajinikanth’s decision may not work in favour of the project.
For now, these reactions remain limited to social media speculation. It remains to be seen whether Cibi Chakaravarthi will indeed direct Rajinikanth’s 173rd film and how things unfold after RKFI makes its official announcement.
