After the average success of Gangers, director Sundar C is returning with the film Mookuthi Amman 2 starring Nayanthara in the lead role, which is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release tomorrow (November 6th).
For the last few days, the Mookuthi Amman 2 team has been doing round the clock promotions for the film through interviews and promotional events. In one such interview, Sundar C shared an exciting update regarding his shelved project with Rajinikanth, which is now going viral on social media.
As everyone knows, Rajinikanth’s 173rd film was initially supposed to be directed by Sundar C under Kamal Haasan’s RKFI production and an official announcement regarding this collaboration was even released. However, for certain reasons, Sundar C stepped out of the project and Cibi Chakaravarthi was brought in as his replacement.
Later, due to undisclosed reasons, Cibi Chakaravarthi also left the project. Finally, Ashwath Marimuthu was finalized and Thalaivar 173 is now shaping up as Dharman.
In this scenario, during a recent interview, when the anchor questioned him about the shelved project with Rajinikanth, Sundar C stated that the film has not been shelved; they simply haven’t found the right time to mount it yet. Furthermore, he mentioned that his collaboration with Rajinikanth could definitely happen in the future.
In response to Sundar C’s viral comments, many social media users are speculating that talks are still ongoing for their collaboration. Also, they suspect that because Nelson Dilipkumar usually takes at least a year to complete his script work, Rajinikanth might collaborate with Sundar C for a film after Dharman, before stepping into the KH×RK project.
However, industry insiders claim that there is no immediate possibility of Rajinikanth collaborating with Sundar C. They suggest that even if the project is finalized, it will happen only after two years, noting that Rajinikanth remains busy for the next two years with Dharman and the KH×RK project.
Ultimately, all of these are just social media discussions based on Sundar C’s update about his collaboration with Rajinikanth. It remains to be seen whether Rajinikanth and Sundar C will collaborate for a commercial entertainer in the future and if they do, how the project will take shape.
