Today, two medium-budget movies, Manikandan’s Kudumbasthan and Guru Somasundaram’s Bottle Radha, have hit theaters and are receiving positive responses from audiences.
2025 has started strongly for Kollywood with back-to-back successes of medium-budget films, as no big-ticket releases have arrived yet. Vidaamuyarchi is set to be the first major release of the year for Kollywood.
After watching Kudumbasthan, many audiences and critics praised the movie as one of the most entertaining films to have released in recent months.
Manikandan’s performance, in particular, has been widely appreciated, marking his third consecutive success after Good Night and Lover. It seems Manikandan is steadily emerging as a minimum-guarantee actor in Kollywood.
Similarly, Guru Somasundaram’s Bottle Radha has also received appreciation from viewers. Interestingly, both Kudumbasthan and Bottle Radha belong to the comedy-entertainer genre.
Although both films had a slow start at the box office, positive word of mouth has started boosting ticket bookings for evening and night shows. It will be interesting to see how these films perform in terms of box office collections in the coming days.
