In this context, several trade experts have criticized the makers of Tourist Family for releasing the movie in only a limited number of locations in the U.S. As a result, it has collected just $77,000 as of Tuesday.
Despite the strong word-of-mouth, the limited release is believed to have significantly impacted its potential collections in the overseas market.

Following this, some netizens pointed out that the team failed to gauge their content correctly. They believe the film’s emotional and cultural themes would have appealed strongly to overseas audiences, but the opportunity wasn’t fully utilized.
Consequently, Tourist Family has underperformed in the U.S., a result many attribute to misjudgment on the part of the makers.
