India’s digital payments landscape is entering its next phase of convenience and control. Over the years, UPI has made everyday transactions effortless from instant transfers to recurring bill payments. But users have often struggled to track auto-pay mandates spread across multiple apps.
That confusion will soon end. Starting December 31, 2025, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) will allow users to view and manage all UPI AutoPay mandates through any single app no matter where those mandates were created.
For instance, if you set up subscriptions using PhonePe, Paytm, or Google Pay, you’ll soon be able to manage every one of them from just one of these apps.
This update marks a significant step toward true interoperability in India’s UPI ecosystem. It gives users a unified view of all recurring payments, making it easier to modify or cancel subscriptions whenever needed.
For businesses, the change ensures smoother compliance and transparent transactions. It also builds greater trust with users, reducing confusion and disputes around automatic debits.
Ultimately, this move highlights India’s leadership in digital payment innovation, balancing user empowerment with simplicity the very strength that made UPI a global success story.
