Actress Meera Chopra found herself at the center of controversy after calling out Air India for denying a refund, following the Ahmedabad plane crash that claimed 242 lives.
Chopra posted on social media expressing her anger toward the airline for refusing to refund her husband’s ticket to Dubai. She called the airline “insensitive” and accused it of ignoring the growing safety concerns after the fatal crash.
Chopra’s tweet quickly drew criticism. Many social media users accused her of using a national tragedy to seek personal gain.
One user wrote that the “entitlement on this app is astonishing” while others questioned why she had not followed the proper redressal mechanisms or cancellation policy before venting publicly.
In her post, Chopra said that Air India refused to issue a refund because no official advisory had been released regarding the crash. She argued that the airline should be proactive given the magnitude of the incident.
However, many netizens took offense to her tone. Some pointed out that calling for refunds amid a national tragedy looked insensitive and opportunistic.
One user noted that 241 people had just died and accused Chopra of prioritising money over human lives. Others defended Air India, stating that the issue may lie with the aircraft model, not the airline itself.
A few urged her to understand the broader context and avoid turning a tragedy into a personal complaint. Several responses dismissed her call to boycott Air India as unreasonable.
Users reminded her that safety should come before money and suggested switching airlines if she felt uncomfortable, without creating public drama.
