Injured Passenger Stuck With AA Credit He Can’t Use

American Airlines refund complaint

A passenger has alleged that they were forced to cancel an American Airlines flight due to a serious back injury. The injury reportedly caused major functional limitations. As a result, travelling was not possible for several weeks.

After the cancellation, American Airlines issued a flight credit instead of a refund. However, the passenger believes they may not be able to travel before the credit expires. This has added to their frustration.

When the passenger contacted AA to request a refund to the original payment method, they were reportedly told to use the online portal. Even phone support could not provide further assistance. The lack of direct help left the traveller disappointed.

The passenger submitted medical documents through the portal. They stated that doctors had advised them to avoid work for 12 weeks. Despite this, no refund was processed.

The individual claimed to have had a very different experience with Delta. According to them, Delta issued a full refund within a few days after reviewing the same documentation. The contrast has sparked discussion online.

While American Airlines may not be obligated to refund tickets for medical reasons, clearer communication could have helped. Customers often expect empathy during emergencies. Better accessibility and transparent policies may prevent such grievances.
