Pregnant Flyer Mistreated: Southwest Crew Slammed

Southwest crew mistreats pregnant passenger

A Southwest Airlines passenger accused a flight attendant of mistreating his pregnant wife during a recent flight, reigniting debate over the airline’s declining service standards. Once known for its friendly approach, the airline is now facing growing backlash from regular travelers.

According to a detailed Reddit post, the passenger’s wife, who was nine weeks pregnant, requested water while seated in the exit row. The attendant, identified as “Diedra,” allegedly replied harshly, saying that “sick people can’t sit in the exit row” before forcing the couple to move.

Despite clarifying that his wife was not sick, the passenger said the attendant refused to listen. The confrontation reportedly left his wife embarrassed and in tears.

Crew Apology Raises Questions

The passenger also wrote that another crew member later apologised for Diedra’s behaviour and offered him a free drink, implying that such incidents are not uncommon. He pointed out that Southwest Airlines’ policy does not prohibit pregnant passengers from sitting in exit rows, directly contradicting the attendant’s claim.

Loyal Flyers Voice Frustration

The incident resonated with many frequent fliers who have shared similar experiences, alleging inconsistent service and rude behaviour from newer staff. Regular passengers say the airline’s warm and humorous tone has been replaced with indifference, leading to widespread disappointment.

Passenger’s Strong Reaction

The complainant, a frequent flyer who spends over $10,000 annually with Southwest and holds A-List Preferred status, called the treatment of his wife “unacceptable.” He said he plans to file a formal complaint, adding that the issue reflects a wider drop in professionalism within the airline.
