Passengers on SpiceJet flight SG385 from Delhi to Mumbai faced a long and frustrating delay after the aircraft developed maintenance issues right after boarding. The flight, scheduled to depart at 6:30 a.m., remained grounded for hours during technical checks.
Passengers left without updates
Travellers were made to sit inside the aircraft with little information or assistance from the crew. Many took to social media to express anger over SpiceJet’s repeated operational lapses and poor handling of delays.
No refreshments or alternate arrangements
Several passengers claimed the airline failed to provide refreshments or offer alternate flight options despite the prolonged delay. Such treatment violates the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) guidelines, which require airlines to support passengers during extended delays.
Complaints about crew behaviour
Some fliers also reported unprofessional behaviour from staff members, saying they showed indifference toward stranded passengers. Regular travellers added that maintenance-related delays have become common on SpiceJet flights in recent months.
Calls for DGCA and ministry action
The repeated disruptions have raised questions about SpiceJet’s aircraft maintenance and overall reliability. Affected passengers have reached out to AirSewa, the DGCA, and the Ministry of Civil Aviation, urging strict action against the airline. Many believe consistent oversight failures point to deeper issues in maintenance and customer service.
