When you call yourself the best country in the world and consider yourself the biggest superpower, anyone would expect that country to be at least a safe space for its own citizens. However, for a filthy rich country like the United States, which has hundreds of billions to spend on wars allegedly meant for ‘peace’, safety takes a back seat when it comes to protecting their own citizens.
It’s another day in the US and we have another story about a mass shooting that has claimed the lives of 3 people in a law office in Las Vegas. The suspect in the case is also dead but the case highlights the state’s inability to handle the situation of gun violence in the country.
It is not just bizarre but very concerning as well that a developed nation like the USA advocates for freedom to carry arms when it has already caused so much violence in the country. The capitalist nature of the country has created a system in which people rely more on their own guns than the law enforcement agencies for safety.
India is a developing country with so much to invest in yet when it comes to gun violence, India is a much safer place. With elections around the corner in the US, we have seen candidates championing for relaxed gun laws instead of putting a ban on them.
