A B-1/B-2 visa applicant is facing a serious problem before their biometrics appointment in New Delhi. You booked your visa interview in November 2024, but a missed payment step has now put your entire application at risk.
Biometrics booked without fee payment
You received a biometrics appointment for January 2026. Later, you discovered that the mandatory MRV fee was never processed. The payment failed because it was made after the payment code had already expired.
Expired code blocks payment options
The official visa portal offers no option to regenerate a payment link once the code expires. You are left with no clear way to complete the payment online, even though your appointment remains visible in the system.
System loophole causes confusion
Experts confirm this is a rare loophole in the scheduling system. You can book appointments without paying the MRV fee. This flaw creates serious problems later, especially when payment confirmation becomes mandatory.
Strict MRV rules in India
In India, the MRV payment code stays active for only 48 hours. After that, you cannot pay through normal channels. A valid payment receipt is compulsory to attend biometrics and visa interviews.
Risk at the Consulate
Without proof of payment, you may be turned away at the U.S. Consulate General New Delhi. There is no official guidance on how to fix an unpaid fee once an appointment is already scheduled.
Limited and uncertain options
You may try paying the fee directly at a bank. There is no assurance the Consulate will accept it. If this fails, you must submit a fresh application and pay the fee again.
Original fee may be lost
If forced to reapply, you risk losing the original fee entirely. You also lose your existing appointment. This situation highlights a serious gap in the visa scheduling system that leaves applicants vulnerable.
