Amandeep Singh, 34, has been charged in a brutal head-on crash that killed two 14-year-old boys in Long Island, NY. He asked the police not to inform his wife that he was drunk and partying with women. He also claimed to be wealthy. When he was produced in court, he pleaded not guilty.
The accident on May 3 resulted in the death of two Rosalyn Middle School eighth-graders and two others injured. Surprisingly, the driver himself emerged from the crash unscathed. The boys lost their lives instantly. However, Amandeep left his vehicle and fled the scene without taking responsibility.
He hid behind a trash can behind a shopping mall until the police caught up with him. He was still in a drunken stupor at the time of his arrest. Singh was confused about why the police were there, as he mistakenly believed he was in New Jersey.
Following the crash in Jericho, Singh is facing a number of charges, including vehicular homicide, DWI, and leaving the scene of the accident. Cocaine was found in his blood on the day of the incident, and a bottle of tequila was discovered in his truck.
The two boys who lost their lives in the incident were Ethan Falkowitz and Drew Hassenbein, who played tennis together. The other two boys with them escaped with minor injuries.
Singh is expected to appear in court again at the end of July.
