Foreign Tourism In India: USA Rocks!

India-USA

The Centre for Monitoring the Indian Economy has released the data of foreign tourists visiting India in October 2023. Around 0.81 million foreigners visited India during the month, an increase from last October, but not up to the pre-pandemic levels.

In October 2019, 0.95 million foreign tourists had visited India. In foreign exchange earnings, too, there is an increase from the previous year with $2.28 billion, compared to $2.5 billion in October 2019.

Bangladeshis top the list of all the tourists visiting India with a 21.4 per cent share, followed by the US with 15.7 per cent. These numbers are encouraging for the tourism industry which is trying to revive itself from the shockwaves of the pandemic.

The USA being in second place is odd but not surprising because in the last few years, Indo-American relations have enhanced and India has been fascinating to Americans for a long time.

To further develop the tourism sector, GoI has launched new initiatives like Dekho Apna Desh and revamped the old ones like Swadesh Darshan 2.0.

India has a lot to offer foreign tourists and we hope that the tourism industry will keep improving with each passing year.
