H-1B Visa

Since the very beginning of this year visa rules have been changing rapidly . To that extent, students were very much sceptical whether to take admissions or not.

Now again, the US Department of Homeland Security, proposed a rule that would require employers to pay additional fees when extending work visas for foreign employees starting July 8.

The proposal includes a USD 4,000 which is ₹3,33,000 in Indian rupees for extending an H-1B visa and a USD 4,500 which is Rs 3,75,000 for extending an L-1 visa.

This pricing is a very big problem, as in dollars people can afford it, but if we closely see the range gap between UDS and Rupees , then it’s pretty huge.

Now the H-1B visa which was one of the greatest pathways for Indians to send software engineers in the USA will be impacted by these changes.

This new rule proposes extending these fees to cover visa extension petitions.

DHS also gave some reasons for why they again changed the visa rules.

The First reason includes that it will provide funds for the biometric entry-exit systems, which applies only to initial visa petitions and changes of employers, and aims to fund national security programmes.

The second reason is applying the fee uniformly across all petition types ensures consistency and fairness, and lastly adequate funding will help maintain and improve the biometric entry-exit system, which is essential for monitoring immigration and enhancing national security.

Many Indian in foreign lands are their based on this H-1B visa, the high costing system can affect their livelihood exponentially.
