“Increase in Schengen Visa Demand Leads to Faster Processing Time,” Says Georg Enzweiler, Deputy Head of Mission at German Embassy.
“A Schengen visa isn’t just a regular visa; it’s a special one that lets you explore the beautiful 27-countries in the Schengen Area of Europe. You can use it for vacations or business trips.”
Since more people want this visa, there’s some advice for those who are planning trips within the next two weeks: it might be a good idea to delay your plans a bit. The German Embassy shared this advice in April. They saw that many more people wanted Schengen visas, so it was taking longer to get appointments and process the visas.
Some interesting numbers from the German National Tourist Board show that in 2022, Indians spent a lot of nights in Germany – about 6.23 lakh nights, to be exact. This is a big increase of 209 percent compared to the year before, although it’s still 65 percent lower than before the time of Covid.
The German Embassy has been working hard to make things better. They’ve managed to make the time it takes to process the visas shorter – around eight weeks now, which is quite good. They’re hoping to keep making it even better.
