No country can function without efficient lawmakers and to formulate policies you need a think tank, a group of experts from all walks of life. When you are running a country as big as the United States, your experts need to be the best of the best. In a moment of pride for the whole Indian community, an Indian-American woman has been appointed as a White House fellow for the year 2023.
Kamal Menghrajani, who is a cancer physician is selected as one of the 15 White House fellows for the year 2023-2024. She will be working with the senior White House staff, administration officials and Cabinet secretaries. Kamal will be working at the Office of Science and Technology Policy.
Kamal is the only Indian origin member from the 15 selected for the programme. She has an expertise in treating people with Leukaemia. Kamal is the first ever oncologist to have been selected as a White House Fellow.
Kamal has also co-founded start-ups that help in the early detection of cancer in patients by deploying AI. She will spend a year working at the White House and help shape policies and plans that are gonna help in the battle against cancer.
