Another Indian-origin girl has made history in India by becoming the first Indian-origin girl to win a beauty pageant in the USA.
The girl, UmaSofia Srivastava, an Indian-origin girl living in New Jersey, has won Miss Teen USA 2023. She was crowned the winner among 50 young women from the USA.
As the news was live-streamed in the state of Nevada in the US, a series of congratulations and best wishes began spreading to UmaSofia, as it was a significant achievement in a country like the US.
The 16-year-old UmaSofia is a high school student at St. Elizabeth’s and is not new to beauty pageants. Earlier this year, she also won the Mexican-Indian Miss New Jersey Teen USA. The first runner-up award went to Stephanie Skinner, and Maggie Ross became the second runner-up.
UmaSofia is not only an excellent student but also loves participating in extracurricular activities, such as working with an NGO to help underprivileged children in India. According to her biography, she has also participated in Model United Nations and Mock Trials previously.
