The Vice President of the United States of America, Kamala Harris recently spoke about Indian Americans in US politics and urged more and more of them to run for offices. There has been a significant rise in the numbers in recent years and it’s thanks to people like Krystle Kaul, who are not afraid to fight for elections.
Kaul is an Indian origin congressional candidate from Virginia who’s running for the US House of Representatives. She has achieved a remarkable feat by raising $1 million for her campaign. This is a milestone that only a very few first timers have accomplished.
If elected, Kaul will become the second Indian American woman to be elected to the US House of Representatives. Pramila Jayapal is the first Indian American woman in the house representing Washington State.
Kaul was the youngest director at the Department of Defense and has worked for the CIA as well. She is of kashmiri origin and also has Punjabi heritage. She is also a small business owner and a professor.
Her election to the house would be a great boost to the whole Indian American community who want fair representation in the legislatures.
