An Indian tech worker was shot dead in Canada in a shocking incident that has raised serious concerns. The victim was reportedly attacked in broad daylight while sitting inside his car.
Chandan Kumar Raja Nandakumar, a 37 year old tech professional from Bengaluru, was living in Brampton, Ontario. Police said the incident happened on Saturday afternoon near the entrance of Woodbine Shopping Centre in Toronto.
According to investigators, Chandan was inside his white SUV when unidentified attackers opened fire and escaped. Officers found him with multiple gunshot wounds and rushed him to a hospital, where he was declared dead.
Authorities are treating the case as a targeted attack. The circumstances surrounding the Indian techie’s death are now under investigation by local police.
Chandan belonged to Thyamagondlu village near Nelamangala in Bengaluru. He had moved to Canada about six years ago and was working with LTI Mindtree.
Friends said Chandan was active in the local Kannada community in Toronto. He often supported Kannada films, music events, and cultural gatherings.
Police have begun a homicide investigation, but no arrests have been made so far. Some relatives suspect his community involvement may have led to conflict, though officials have not confirmed any motive.
Chandan’s father, Nandan Kumar, said his son was planning to visit India in April. The family has appealed to Indian authorities to help bring his mortal remains back home.
