Claire Coutinho, an Indian-origin woman with roots in Goa, and a close associate of Rishi Sunak, has earned a cabinet minister position. She has been serving in the British administration for a considerable period. The 38-year-old has become the new Energy Security and Net Zero Secretary, focusing on safeguarding energy security. She is the youngest member of the cabinet and supported the British Indian candidate for Prime Minister last year, initially serving as a junior minister in the Department for Education.

Claire expressed her delight at being appointed Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero. She mentioned her commitment to collaborating with the Prime Minister to ensure energy security, decrease costs for households, and develop cleaner, more affordable, domestically sourced energy.
