A tragic road accident in the US has claimed the life of a 27-year-old Indian student from Andhra Pradesh. Makkena Prasanna, a native of Ummadivaram village in Palnadu district’s Vinukonda mandal, died in a car crash in New Jersey.
Prasanna had gone to the US in 2022 to pursue higher studies. After completing her Master’s degree, she was trying to secure a job and build her career. According to reports, Prasanna was travelling with three friends after attending a programme on Tuesday when their car lost control and crashed into a tree. Prasanna died on the spot, while her three friends suffered injuries.
She was the eldest daughter of farmer couple Makkena Venkateswarlu and Govindamma. News of her sudden death has left the family devastated, and her native village is in mourning.
After learning about the incident, Andhra Pradesh Chief Whip and Vinukonda MLA G.V. Anjaneyulu spoke to Prasanna’s father over the phone and assured the family that efforts are being made to bring her mortal remains back to India at the earliest.
The grieving family has appealed to the government to expedite the process of repatriating Prasanna’s body so they can perform her last rites in their hometown.
It is another heartbreaking reminder of the tragedies that continue to affect Indian students and young professionals pursuing their dreams abroad.
