
In a move that has left the Indian Supreme Court stunned, an NRI defied a direct order, fled the country, and reached the US, all while his passport was surrendered to the court.
Before his run away, the man was ordered to give custody of his 10-year-old son to his ex-wife, as part of a post-divorce agreement. He ignored the court’s order, sparking a contempt case.

On the January 22 hearing the NRI was absent and his lawyer, Vikas Singh, assured the court that he would appear next time.
However, On January 29, Singh revealed that his client had fled to the US leaving the court in shock. The bench of judges has now issued a non-bailable warrant against him.

The bench remarked, “We’re shocked he left with his passport in our possession.” It has now ordered the government to arrest him and investigate who assisted in his escape.
This case has exposed the corrupt and inefficient Law enforcement system in India. There must be a big network behind the NRI that helped him run away, which needs to be tracked down.
