The new Amazon Prime Lite is for Rs 999 a year. It remarkably less when compared to the Pŕime Membership which is for Rs 1,499 a year. Amazon Prime Lite offers free two-day and standard delivery, ‘No-Rush’ shipping, ₹25 cashback, and 5% cashback with Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card. Prime Lite membership also includes unlimited streaming of videos, movies, and TV shows from India and worldwide. However, HD quality is limited to two devices, and users will experience ads on Prime Video.
This ‘Lite’ feature has a few restrictions attached to it. For Eg. The Prime Lite subscription lacks Prime Music, Prime gaming and Prime Reading access. Also One-day delivery and same-day delivery features are not applicable in this new subscription plan.

Seems they have planned this relatively cheaper option in order to reach to the masses as OTT still has not reached effectively in the rural roots of India. This might also help in controlling the piracy issue. Anyways, giving more options to the customer is always a great deal. However, it depends on user to user whether they want to enjoy the full featured Prime membership or they are happy to settle with the ‘Lite’ version.
