In another horrific case of a mass shooting in the USA, three innocents were killed on the streets. The incident took place around 8 PM in the Southeast D.C. neighborhood, Washington D.C. Among the dead are two men and a woman. Two other men were also injured during the attack. They were rushed to the nearest hospital by the first responders, but their condition was unclear.
So far, no arrests have been made pertaining to the violence. Acting Metropolitan Police Chief, Pamela Smith, did a late-night news briefing to share the information. She also urged other potentially injured victims to come out. This is not the only case of such a crime in recent times. Gun violence has been increasing continuously, and so is the number of casualties.
With no gun control law, possessing a gun is very easy in the USA. The possession of a firearm is the highest in the USA, with over 120 guns per 100 people. Democrats have been pushing for tougher gun control with more stringent background checks, but the Republicans have been opposing it for a long time. Violent crime has been up 37%, and homicide 21% this year in Washington D.C. Police fear that with more guns in communities, the number can only go up.
