Sriram Krishnan was handpicked by Donald Trump to serve as the senior AI head at the White House. Since then, a massive backlash has emerged from the American community, including even some Trump followers. There have been numerous mean-spirited, abusive, and racist posts targeting Sriram Krishnan, often linking his Indian heritage to H-1B visas.
Appalled at the racist abuse @sriramk is experiencing on here. Ok to disagree with someone on policy, not ok to attack someone on the basis of their race/national origin. Sending my support to the Indian American community

However, the reality is that Sriram Krishnan holds no power to make changes or revoke H-1B visas, nor does he have the authority to deport Indians. The hatred, however, is not based on logic; it stems from a desire to vent anger. Now, Sriram Krishnan must bear the brunt of this hostility.
Being of Indian origin, having brown skin, and rising to a high level in his career due to his talent, he has become a target simply because of his background.
For a glimpse of the kind of hatred being directed at him, consider a few sample tweets below.
