The UK government is looking to attract thousands of Indian students to its universities as it seeks to deepen its education and research partnership with India.
The UK has recently signed a landmark agreement with India to recognise each other’s higher education qualifications, making it easier for Indian graduates to pursue postgraduate studies or careers in the UK.
The UK also offers a two-year post-study work visa for international students, which is expected to boost the number of Indian students choosing the UK as their study destination.
The UK-India education partnership is part of the Enhanced Trade Partnership (ETP) agreed by Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year, which aims to double bilateral trade by 2030.
The UK sees India as a key partner in the post-Brexit era, and hopes to leverage its strengths in education, research and innovation to create new opportunities for collaboration and growth.
By offering quality education and skills development to Indian students, the UK hopes to foster a long-term relationship with India and create a pool of talent that can contribute to both countries’ economies and societies.
