The US presidential elections are set to take place in about four months from now. However, American democracy is already rattled as the two candidates went against each other in the first presidential debate. Joe Biden and his rival Donald Trump went above and beyond, making allegations and counterarguments. The debate between the two opened up the problem surrounding the national debt when the US President started showing the effects of his age.
Biden was going on about how he is making sure that every citizen is eligible for his countermeasures against COVID when the octogenarian started fumbling with his speech. After several pauses and “glitches,” Biden finally made a coherent sentence: “We finally beat Medicare,” which again made no sense and gave enough room for Trump to land a blow.
Trump said, “He did beat it to death.” Following which, Biden made a statement about how he has worked on the immigration crisis, or perhaps that’s what he intended to do, as by the end of the statement, the slurred speech made it difficult for anyone to grasp what the US president said.
Once again, Trump took no time to take the hit, stating, “I really don’t know what he said at the end of this; I don’t think he knows either.” It is safe to say that the US democracy is in a peculiar situation. While there is a mumbling 81-year-old trying his best to make coherent statements, Trump’s never-ending lies and edgy ideals are constantly on the attacking front. It’s not like Biden didn’t throw any jabs. Keep in mind that Trump was convicted of 34 criminal charges in his hush-money trial, which Biden used to corner Trump.
The debate kept getting more and more bizarre, with more verbal blunders from both sides. Making the presidential debate more like a back and forth in an old-age home. And thus we have the greatest nation on its way to democratically choose between an ego-maniac and a man struggling to make sentences.
